Positive Personal Change

Today the world is always telling us to be ourselves and not care what anyone else thinks. You are who you are, embrace it and ignore the haters. While this is all well and good, we should appreciate ourselves for who we are and not define our self worth based on other's opinions. However, I often think people use this as a way to avoid ways that they can positively change and grow in their lives.

There is such a thing as positive self evaluation and positive self change. I am personally going through one of these periods myself. I have been asking myself honest questions about my life and is there anything I should or want to improve about it? And boy let me tell you did I come up with alot.

I need to use my time more wisely, I need to exercise and eat healthier, I need to spend more time with God and put Him first... these are all things I have decided I need to and want to improve after I finished self evaluating. And none of them are bad things.

My major is Communications/Public Relations, this is a field where who you are and how you come across to others is crucial, and so I am always self-evaluating. However, I would always evaluate but never change. Those days are over though. On my journey to become the woman God wants me to be I have decided that it is time to stop coming up with excuses and improve in the ways I know I need to.

So yes, we should love ourselves, we should love ourselves because God created us and He loves us very much. But He also made us stewards of the bodies He has given us, and has put us on this earth for a purpose. So that means we should take it seriously and do what we need to to become the person He knows we can be.

We have been given the precious gift of life, so we need to live it! It is time to stop living in an era where being lazy is cool and start to really take stock of who we are now, compared to who we can be, and who God wants us to be. So yes, we should love ourselves, but we should also take an honest look and find ways that we can improve ourselves for the glory of God and His kingdom.
